Cast Urethane Molding

RedEye On Demand provides cast urethane prototypes and short-run production components that are virtually identical to production injection molded parts without the investment and leadtime required for hard tooling. Cast urethanes are ideal for test prototypes, marketing samples, early-stage production parts and other applications where up to 100 pieces are required.

Benefits of Using Cast Urethanes

• Nearly identical to production parts ̶ Cast urethane parts can be produced with nearly the same surface finish, color, tolerances and material properties as injection molded parts produced with hard tooling.

• Eliminates geometrical restrictions – The use of soft tooling with cast urethanes makes it possible to produce parts with geometries that would be expensive or impossible to produce with hard tooling. Parts with interfering geometries can be removed simply by bending the mold out of the way.

• Metal inserts available – Cast urethanes can be molded with metal inserts that typically contain threaded members that make it easy to fasten the part.

• High achievable accuracy – Accuracy of +/- 0.005 inch for the first inch, +/- 0.002 inch for each additional inch is achievable.
