RedEye introduces new service that provides parts with smooth surface finish ready for end use
RedEye’s Ready Part eliminates the need for extra sanding or finishing

Eden Prairie, Minn. (Nov. 8, 2007) – RedEye© today announced the general availability of its Ready Part™ premium service – a finishing process that produces smooth, mold-quality acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) parts.

The rapid prototyping market is quickly moving toward manufacturing end-use parts,” said Greg Ackerman, director of RedEye. “Because of that, we need to constantly refine processes and identify new technologies that will provide our customers with real, functional parts they can use for retail or as components of manufactured applications. The smooth surface finish Ready Part offers will help our customers use fused deposition modeling as a competitive advantage.”

Ready Part uses a patent-pending process to produce a smoother finish and water-tight seal on models and parts. The Ready Part technology also prepares models and parts for painting, plating and post finishing processes. In addition, Ready Part prepares parts for use as a master for room temperature vulcanization (RTV) molding.

RedEye provides rapid prototypes and digitally manufactured parts on its more than 80 FDM and PolyJet systems. Ready Part is a premium service from RedEye.
