Injection Molding
RedEye On Demand offers over 200 injection molding materials for your low-volume parts production. We can even locate specific materials or colorants that are not readily available. Choose from a variety of materials with properties such as impact resistance, high strength, high temperature resistance, transparency, and chemical resistance. These injection molding material properties can be used in various applications to create the parts you need.
Injection Molding General Purpose Plastic Resins
| ABS ― Used to create parts that require high impact strength and toughness. It is also a flame retardant grade ABS and is useful within a temperature grade range from -40° to 212°F. |
| Acetal ― A tough material that provides excellent chemical resistance, natural lubrication, dimensional stability, and remains stable at high temperature. |
| Nylon 6/6 ― A versatile engineering plastic that provides strength, rigidity, impact resistance, abrasion resistance, self-lubrication, and a high melting point making it an excellent choice for metal replace applications. |
| Nylon 6/6 Glass Filled ― A material that offers excellent wear, abrasion, impact, chemical, and heat resistance. It also provides low friction and self-lubrication. For a nylon with 200% better strength than general purpose nylon, choose 33% Glass Filled to reduce warping caused by water absorption. |
| PC/ABS ― A blended material of ABS and Polycarbonate that provides a great combination of mechanical and thermal properties. It has good impact strength (even in cold temperatures), rigidity, dimensional, thermal, and color stability. |
| PC | Polycarbonate ― A transparent polymer that is extremely durable (almost unbreakable), resistant to heat up to 125°C with amazing clarity. Choose this polymer in applications like glass or metal when the temperature does not exceed 125°C. |
| Polypropylene ― A flexible, tough material that makes it an excellent choice for hinged parts. It has a very low density and is light weight with good tensile strength and inertness towards acids, alkalis, and solvents. |
| Polystyrene ― A solid material with limited flexibility that can be cast into molds with fine detail. It can be transparent or made to take on various colors. |
| PBT | Polybutylene Terephthalate ― A material that is resistant to solvents, shrinks very little during forming, is mechanically strong, and heat resistant up to 150°C. |
| PVC | Polyvinyl Chloride ― A durable, long-lasting material that comes in rigid or flexible states. PVC is a flame retardant and chemical resistant material. |
| TPE | Thermoplastic Elastomers or TPV | Vulcanizate ― These provide similar characteristics and feels like natural rubber, but they have more longevity. They are usually preferred over rubber because of their durability in hot and cold environments. Because of their high tear strength, they are an excellent choice for overmolding and living hinges. TPV’s, like Santoprene, can increase a product’s longevity due to their ability to chemically bond to certain rigid materials. |
| ULTEM 1000 ― An amorphous, high-performance polymer with exceptional flame and heat resistance. It performs continuously to 340°C. It is hydrolysis resistant, highly resistant to acidic solutions and capable of withstanding multiple autoclaving cycles. |
